  1. No worries, I would say if you can pick a cheap ground handling wing up and start doing a bit with that it will help you massively, you don't really want to be crashing a £2000 wing into the ground when your learning, and it will get dragged a fair bit when your starting out you should be able to get a ground handling wing for no more than £200.
  2. You could always find somewhere that does tandem and get them a gift voucher, also if they buy a tandem wing now you may find when you come to use it there's new technology about etc I'd wait until your totally ready for any equipment, I made the mistake when I started I got excited and rushed out and bought a rad Paramotor months and months before I was ready or even new anything, turned out it was shite and no good for me so I sold it lost money and bought a brand new parajet.
  3. To be honest I wouldnt even think about trying to take people tandem at this stage, I'm a new pilot and to be honest it's hard enough getting everything right and launching solo, I think it would take a lot of experience and an awful lot of takeoffs and landings and flying hours I would imagine the guys doing tandem flights have years of experience, I would just concentrate on getting yourself airborne for now.
  4. Well done lee this reminds me exactly of my first flight which was march this year although I've not had a flight since april I'm keen to get back into it. I know exactly what you mean about holding back on the launching I do the same thing almost afraid to get it over head because then you know you've got to go for it, did your dad continue flying?
  5. I know what you mean guys I'm in exactly the same boat had about 5 flights this year but not flown since april been watching these nice days go by and don't have somewhere I can use and not sure what the conditions would be like up there, where are you guys based?
  6. Thanks guys, I had lessons for quite a while but they were always in the cooler months I would say I have 8 hours airtime in total but I have never flown now it's warmed up although I have no intention of trying to go up during the daytime I'm planning on later in the evening 6 or 7 pm but I didn't know if thermals would be gone by then, I remember I had a flight in march on a Sunday and it had been a lovely day I took off around 4 pm and it was so smooth it was amazing up there. Also I'm based in Leicestershire. And I'm still looking for a decent private field I'm gonna try knocking some doors this afternoon. Thanks. Tim.
  7. Thanks outkast so basically just don't panic and enjoy it, I was just worried as I'd heard things like thermals can collapse wings etc, also I like to try and fly with my brakes clipped up if I hit a thermal do I need to grab them and do any input? Will I just fly straight through the thermal and out the other side? Thanks. Tim.
  8. Hi guys just asking a little advice, I'm new to flying and have so far done around 5 flights but not since april time due to crap weather, but now there's a few days of nice weather I'm thinking about having a another crack,I'm wondering from you more experienced guys what the conditions are going to be like at say around 6.30-7pm after its been around 22 Celsius all day? Would I expect to be thrown about a fair bit or do you think it would be smooth? Also how can I avoid thermals and what do I do if I hit one? I'm still quite a nervous flyer as expected with such low airtime but I really wanna try and build my confidence and get out there but I don't wanna get up there and scare myself and then wanna sell all my kit, bear in mind I have no flying experience other than my Paramotor. Thanks. Tim.
  9. Thanks hemburg that's great I'm gonna keep trying.
  10. Thanks guys that's great help I have a feeling I was not fully into the slight wind that there was this must have been why it wasn't coming up nice,I like the idea of trying when there's a little wind cos I guess you can feel more what's going on. Also I read somewhere not to look up at any time to see where the wing is but then I worry if I have the motor on if the wing isn't right I'm gonna wipe out, also if I do have the motor on do you apply power before you take up the tension on the lines and move forwards? Or do you apply the power after the wing has come up?. Thanks. Tim.
  11. Hi guys I'm looking for some advice on forward launching I'm new to paramotoring and have done around 5 flights but all reverse launches however because of the crap weather my last flight was april. So tonight I decided to go to a local field and do some ground handling while there was no rain, as soon as I got to the field I realised there wasn't much wind so I tried some forward launching but every time I pulled it up the right hand side seemed to hang back and not come up resulting in the wing twisting over, I tried so many times and it did it every time, has anyone got any tips for me? I really wanna get it cracked I'm using a dudek synthesis wing. Thanks. Tim.
  12. Thanks aquatix so really then I'm probably safer on the 29 which will give me nice slower landings which is what I want as a beginner I don't wanna freak out coming down and I'm not gonna be trying to do acrobatix on it I just want safe and steady.
  13. Yes that's really helpful thankyou, would you recommend the revo over the synthesis?
  14. Do you think the 26 would be to fast for me as a beginner? Thanks. Tim.
  15. Do you think a revo2 29 would be too big for me? Weighing 85kg.
  16. Hi guys after a little advice I'm a complete newbie and currently have a silex medium wing not to sure how old it is but I got it as part of a package,I'm under the impression however it's fairly old and outdated although still crispy. So I was looking at wings and was wondering what people would recommend I was looking at dudek synthesis or the paramania revo2 any feedback would be great,I weigh around 85kg. Thanks. Tim.
  17. Hi steve yea the guts at parajet were great when the machined was delivered the USB stick didn't work and they straight away sent me the details via email. The machine is still exactly as it came from the factory I haven't even fired it up I've got it stored in a sealed carry case. I hope they will help me if I have problems fingers crossed I will get a flight sometime this year. Thanks. Tim.
  18. Hi guys Just wondering I bought a brand new volution 2 compact which arrived in may but I have not yet used it as my training has been long winded, do I need to worry about these engine problems as now I'm worried my warranty is evaporating and I'm still to get in the air. Thanks. Tim.
  19. Hi just wanted to say hi and wondered if anyone knows of anyone in the Leicestershire area who can train me? I have had around 5 lessons but not yet got airborn butam keen to get flying before winter kicks in my ground handling isn't to bad I think maybe it needs a little perfecting,I have my own kit also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tim.
