  1. Morning all, Just thought i would highlight an issue my friend and i have had with Kobra PPG Back in 2011 my friend and i, who were working in Saudi at the time, decided to take up the sport of paramotoring. We found an instructor and started some lessons. We both greatly enjoyed it so decided to purchase some equipment. We both eventually decided to get a Kobra venom paramotor with the kobra enjoy wing. We put in our order to Leandro at Kobra with the help of our instructor. £ weeks before delivery our instructor informed us that all ultra/micro light activities in Saudi had been restricted due to 3 people getting caught on a paratrike bringing *removed by admin* into the country, so our delivery got put on hold. We waited 2 months to see if the ban would be lifted but unfortunately it didn't. We decided to get the paramotors shipped to the UK instead. Mine arrived fine but my friends didn't turn up. We contacted Leandro asking why, he replied saying he was waiting for a motor to turn up for the frame and it would be shipped in a week or two. A couple of months past with no arrival of the paramotor? Again we contact him, he replied that he had to use parts from the motor to service other parameters. We again wait a couple of months. This is when the emails became quite worrying, he explained that his company was basically going under and had no items to send and no money to refund. Also his website did not list any products for sale. So this has now dragged on for over a year. I cant tell you how much this has put me and my friend off the sport as basically we have had over £5000 stolen from us. Last week i checked his website, now, it looks to me that he is back in business with new products for sale. So i email him requesting him to reply about our situation, guess what? No reply. Right, now i'm really looking for a bit of guidance on what we can do but also i want to inform you all just be careful who you trust £12000 with! If i were to do it all again, I WOULDN'T GO NEAR HIS COMANY WITH A BARGE POLE!!!!! Thanks for listening (Sorry it was so Long)
  2. Just to let you guys know I have a new Kobra venom and enjoy wing and other goodies for sale over in the marketplace.
  3. I would love too....... But I'm stuck in Saudi Arabia for another 3 weeks
  4. Ian, have you bought your wing yet? I've got a cobra wing you can see up close and personal and would love to meet up with you guys to get some info, i live in Southport! Oh sorry to drag up an old thread!!!!
  5. The school i was looking at is very close to me and is ideal, on the website it says insurance is mandatory and has a link to onrisk, however as we all know on risk has lost their underwriters for paramotoring. I do have another school in mind that I'm looking at, its a bit farther away but if they come up with the goods they have my cash! Are you saying some instructors will leave that decision up to me as I've got all my own kit???
  6. Okay so i was going to start my PPG training while i was out here working in saudi, but that got hit on the head when some guys were caught smuggling *Naughty stuff* over the boarder on a trike! So it was banned outright. So I'm off home in May, got all my kit, got a school In mind but can't find anywhere that will do insurance, schools policy (and a good one it is!) no insurance no training!! Someone please help, I'm desperate to get into this excellent sport!!!! Ive already contacted BHPA - Nogo! The school isn't recognised under them so no insurance, and there is nada BHPA recognised schools anywhere near me (Southport, Merseyside). Please help i need insurance!
  7. Can anyone advise of a good quality stuff sack? I did not get one with my wing
  8. Vey good point, I think I'm getting bogged down with all the sales bumf! Cheers
  9. Has anyone got one of these? A quicke review please if the answers yes! Thanks in advance!
  10. Just a quick question to people, at home what is you kit insured under? I've still to find someone to insure my equiptment!
  11. Right guys, Just received my new kit and thought that insuring it is a good idea because of the price!!! So what insurance have you got, what does it cover, any mishaps so far and, if you don't mind, how much are you paying annually?
  12. Just a quick one? Which is better, going for a bigger wing and being on the lighter side of it's Weight range or going for a smaller one and be on the heavier side of it's weight range?
  13. Due to unforeseen circumstances i have 2 brand new, unopened Kobra Enjoy wings in medium Size (26) that i am trying to sell. Please see my classified for more info: ads_item.php?id=410 thanks
  14. Hi all, I need some guidance on something, I've scouted around the net and want to get you guys opinions!? So i placed an order for a wing and a motor from a company in spain 2.5 months ago and paid for it via my instructor here in saudi. About a month ago now i decided i wanted to upgrade the wing (now bearing in mind the wing and motor are from the same manufacturer) but have now been told that it is not possible and if i do i will loose £1500. As i have not received any of the package yet am i entitled to change my order under the EU directive 97/7/eu which is the European distance selling consumer rights? Getting really fed up with this as I'm spending a lot of money and i want what i want, If you know what i mean! Thanks for reading! Any opinions welcome!
  15. Does anybody know the packed up weight of the Paramania Revo2? Cant find it anywhere???? Need to know for shipping costs. Thanks
  16. Well after having a few weekends ground handling with our instructor yesterday he informed us of some bad news! http://arabnews.com/saudiarabia/article508560.ece Yep, no flying for the forseeable future
  17. Ok, bear with me and i'll create a new template. If you PM me your email it would be best. You'll need Excel with the advanced analysis toolpack installed. In the meantime, just make note of all flights, where from, where to, takeoff and landing times, motor, wing type, lauch type (F/R), etc.. and you can populate the information into the Excel at any time. GD Thanks Gordon
  18. Hi to all your paramotor fellow flyers! My names Jay, nice to meet you, i am currently living out in Saudi, cos of my job working on Typhoon, (normally reside in Southport Merseyside). Just started my training out here and I'm hooked already! Cant wait for my solo Thanks in advance for all the info and advice i will receive from you all. Speak soon!
  19. Did you create your flight log database yourself? Yes, quite a simple affair that has evolved over the years. Gives me all kinds of useful information including the preview page i already posted- It can also indicate -the usage of flying sites, actual count and percentage -flights within a designated time period, month by month/ yearly/ etc.. -graphical display on hours/flights per year A few years ago i posted a few blank templates out- I wonder if anyone here is still using them? Ive had a search trough the forum for it and found a link but its dead! Do you still have a template, if thats not too cheeky!
  20. We'll OK i guess... but how many hard drives do you need to store them? Here's a sample of some of the information my Excel spreadsheet can summarise... handy!! The lines at the bottom alert me when i need to clean the carb (20hrs) and replace the plugs on both machines. A summary of each machine, wing, hours, etc... are all at hand. Did you create your flight log database yourself?
  21. Quick question, what the best, preferred way of recording your fling hours?
