  1. Hi Tim, I do not have your telephone number and you have no yet seen mine above? I saw someone [you?] flying last sunday and Deal and keen to meet up if you could make contact please. Brian
  2. Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if we exchanged posts when I first joined the site about 18 months ago? Either way with my memory its best to start again! I do not have a contact number for you so if you could message me or text me on 07941544674. I hope to have the summer free to pursue some training but to meet up with some local guys to ask all the stupid questions first! cheers Brian
  3. I am still a wannabee and this may be the year for me but recently i have seen a couple of flyers flying along the coast of Deal, a town down in Kent. Anyone know who this might be so i can make contact, or was it you? cheers Brian the wannabee
  4. okay, after much fighting and struggling in the garage i can report the wing is the Nova Axon 26. now for a beer.... Brian
  5. Morning Andy, I am sorry to say I do not have an answer in terms of a number to that question. I have looked all over the harness and cannot find a size reference. When i bought it the size was described as medium and it is a bit snug on me, which would be about right. So i would suggest it is a medium to large with a fair range of adjustment in the straps. The wing is a full size Nova but I don't have room in the garage to get it out and search for the actual size, and outside we have rain this morning, so want to avoid getting it messy. If the weather dries out later I will pull it out. Sorry to be so fecking useless on such a simple question.... regards Brian
  6. Hi, I bought a full size Nova wing and a separate harness last year to practice ground handling and had some fun with it. Looks like work will mean this is not my year to get trained, so I am selling them for the sum of £165. An important bit: The wing was sold to me on the strict condition it was for ground handling only, so please note that. It looks in good condition to my newbie eye but is for ground practice only. I am down near Dover and collection would be best but it could be posted/couriered at your cost. Any questions then drop me an email at security@marinesec.com cheers drummer Someone has been in touch and wants it..so sold subject to exchange of beer tokens.
  7. Interesting and informative, thanks! If this is made into a film can I play the trainee pilot, I have the wizend looks and my ineptitude will not require much in the way of acting skills! Happy New year
  8. oh I saw two girls do this once, but they didn't have clubs and once they were undressed they didn't get dressed again..oh and they took all my money !
  9. please don't joke about sainsburys carrier bags... someone is out to kill me with them, they have posted two through the letterbox, with the warning about not putting over your head scratched out... scary stuff....
  10. no..but maybe your girlfriend..
  11. Great, at last a topic I can contribute to instead of hovering stage right....as wannebe flyer number 134 I am an ex Royal Marines musician and have seen both sides of this argument from the inside & out. I will quickly add that for reasons that astounded us at the time, the RM band I served with went to the Falklands war and did everything from unloading stores to shooting at Argy planes to guarding prisoners . Anyways, before I start all the lamps swinging, I joined a long tradition of behind the lines bods and never really expected to be pointing a gun at anyone when i joined the band, but that war experience, having the crap scared out of me in northern ireland and a terrorist bombing that killed 11 of my band mates put me firmly in the way of danger. And in fact with the depleting size of our armed forces there are very few jobs that are completely safe, since anything that can be is civiilianised and out sourced. So, It might come as a surprise then that I don't agree with a general service medal, they should be for taking part in 'a something' and not just for 'taking part' in general. I have two medals, one for the Falklands war and one for long service and good conduct [yeah right] I am proud of of the former and pleased that I didn't get caught to have the got the other! Far more beneifical would be a petition to enhance the pay for people currently serving in danger areas and the government keeping its end of the bargain when they are wounded. Service pensions should also be increased to reflect the conditions they have to live under in danger zones. Ahem, my opinion and speech is here ended.
  12. Good thought provoking topic [and i am speaking as a wannabe, still not even a newbie] but question. When fixed wing pilots fly at night or in cloud, they have no visual references and fly by intruments. In a PG how would you 'fly straight' or will the natural pendulum confidguration keep you straight unless pilot inputs dictate something else?
  13. As a learning point for us newbies: Given that both pilots had engine failure could there be a common cause such as sharing bad/old fuel or wrong oil mix. I am not very engine savvy so would be interested in the fact or informed opinion. cheers drummer
  14. well done phil on the flying and the blog, also the video! cheers drummer
  15. Hi Steve, I started this thread to ask all those questions, so pleased that you are jumped in with a load of things i also needed to ask. I have had some PM and contact with some Kent guys, all of whom have been helpful and invited me along to watch them fly. Are you based in Kent, if so where? Having had a few replies and suggestions, I am starting my process with a couple of days down in Redhill to get some ground handling and an introduction to the equipment. This will form part of the full course once i commit. Day rates are £90 and the full course at 10 days £900. I am hoping to do that start this week, weather permitting! There are quite a few people offering this sort of thing but the guy called Steve was recommended and replied to my emails. http://www.learntoparamotor.com/ Most of the advice seems to suggest waiting before buying kit, which i will do. see you up there...eventually! drummer
