  1. Hi Brian, Welcome to the world of paramotors and dodgy geezers. Take a look on the community map for other pilots: https://www.paramotorclub.org/communitymap/ If you need gear advice (don't know if there's training available) maybe contact Cameron Paramotors in Stirling: https://www.facebook.com/p/Cameron-Paramotors-North-100063707629388/ Cheers.
  2. So glad to hear it was a great weekend, I was working throughout and only turned green with envy when seeing pics on Facebook. Well done to those who made it there. Long live the PMC fly-ins.
  3. Hi Jim, Welcome to PMC. It's fairly quiet here these days, but there's a wealth of stuff from busier times if you start searching. Cheers.
  4. I've always put the Mr Funnel into the paramotor tank and filtered the oil/petrol mix that comes out of the jerry can. Never had any issues.
  5. Why not ask an instructor whilst you're being shown everything that new pilots need to know?

I removed myself from the attending list a while back as work may mean I can't make it. I'll know tomorrow (maybe) so I might want your space ... !
  7. Definitely take Alan up on his generous offer.
  8. I've been using it for the past half dozen flights, running it simultaneously with FlySkyHy. I really like it, it's solid and I really like the simplicity of the interface. Haven't flown with other pilots that were using it yet. There was a slight discrepency of data compared to FlySkyHy, which is odd as they were both using the same hardware at the same time. But the differences were only very slight and not an issue. Exporting the data in a choice of formats was really easy, love that a lot!
  9. It's classed as a beginner wing but you should be talking about this with your instructor - You'll learn to fly on a school wing and you and your instructor can make decisions about which wing to buy after you've actually learned to fly. If you haven't had any instruction yet then you should probably avoid spending any money at this point.
  10. I tried to get lots of faces, hopefully you'll find yourself if you have ten minutes to spare to watch it.
  11. Sorry, this is a very old listing and the wing has been sold.
  12. Excellent vid Stu, loved the monastery just inside the lip of the volcano. You've reminded me I need to get back to Spain!
  13. Hi Adrian, Welcome to it all. Have you got anywhere sorted for your training yet? If not you have a choice of places such as Steve Griffiths up Aberystwyth way but a bit nearer you have places like Steve Milsom who usually operates just south of the Brecon Beacons around the Fochriw area. The standard line for new guys is 'don't buy anything yet'. It's the best advice you'll get in the early days as you don't know what you want or need yet and you don't want to be wasting money at this stage (there'll be plenty of time for that later!).

Here's a reminder of a couple of Bore Chasers ...
  15. You should take a look at your set up if you are turning without power. Are your offsets correctly set? Are you using torque correction on your wing? Is your harness causing you to be weight shifting slightly? Is anything bent? Was your wing trimmed properly?
  16. Dew will always guarantee a wet wing and a wet wing will always be harder to launch so don't be too downhearted. You could try pegging out a large tarpaulin to lay your wing onto or blow some of the water off the grass with your paramotor (wearing it!).
  17. Wow, Cas, wasn't expecting that here. Thanks mate.

For anyone who has never been to a PMC fly-in, here's a little taster from a couple of years ago ... https://youtu.be/wMFkba0o3fI
  19. It's daft to not record audio in the first place as you've still got to go out and get the audio afterwards (like the OP has to). On a more positive note, I have paramotor audio Owen is welcome to if he still needs it, mostly from video shot at fly-ins and recorded on decent mics.
  20. I've worked as a camera operator for years and that's news to me! Who'd shoot paramotors without sorting out audio at the same time?
  21. I had a similar issue, check that the primer bulb isn't drawing in a tiny bit of air. The engine copes and runs normally until it goes wide open for a while. I had that problem even on a brand new primer bulb - some types of retaining clips cause the pipe to slightly distort on the connection to the bulb.
  22. I agree with Hann, Flyskyhy does this particularly well.
