Once the wing is above you keep your hands up so the wing can attain a good flying speed, then add a little brake to 'unstick' from the ground. Always run upright, back straight so the thrust isn't pushing you towards the ground.

I would have thought a larger reserve would be safer through having a lower descent rate, however I have read that too large could cause oscillation. I can't comment any further than that.

I can't see a problem with that, you might get a bit more induction noise but that's going to be insignificant in the scheme of things.

For tandem flights you will need a bigger wing that is rated for your combined all up weight. You will be looking at 40-42 metre size wings. A Moster 185 engine is used often for tandem operations with a power of 25hp so any engine around 25-28hp should suit.

Would undoubtably been flying large slow wings, by modern standards. I started with a solo 210 powered paramotor flying a 29 metre wing, a long time ago now.

Sorry Adrian the Raket will definitely be underpowered for you. Not what you wanted to hear but I suspect no surprise. I would be looking for at least 25hp, the Vittorazi 185 is suitable and a popular engine.

It depends on the plug cap. Some are designed to grip onto the threaded stud, without the screw on nipple.

Yes, you will be at the top of the weight range for the wing. The Top 80 is almost 15hp, I used to fly a 15hp motor with a wing at the top of the weight range. Climb rate will be lower than with a more powerful motor, perhaps 200 feet per minute, so allow enough space for take off.

I think most would recommend a more powerful engine for your weight. What size wing are you considering?

I run a Bailey four stroke, I'd say it is about the only one you will find on the 2nd hand market. Yes it is heavier, generally comes in at around 28.5kg dry, but you generally carry less fuel so partly balances out the takeoff weight for flight. Power output is 20-22hp (V5 V5s I believe) whereas the common Moster 185 is 25hp, the difference is noticable. If you are on the heavier side the extra is worthwhile. Economy is the plus point at around half the consumption of a typical 2 stroke, they are a little quieter but the propellor makes the most noise. Downside is if parts or manufacturers sevicing is required, Bailey Aviation only operates a 3 day week on Tuesday to Thursday.

Just to clarify the standing of Paramotoring in the UK Steve, it is deregulated rather than unregulated. As a pilot you still have to comply with all the rules of the air, so knowing these is important. One advantage of training with the PMC is you don't need to learn to paraglide first.

I store mine loosely folded in its quick bag under the bed. The most important thing is to make sure it is completely dry before storage, including the stitching, to avoid thread rot.

Yes plenty of thinner layers under a good flying suit. Long johns and a long sleeved T shirt so you have layers on your legs and arms, plus upper layers. Generally about 40 minutes I'd say.

So for those that don't know what that means, there are two buttons on the throttle and a pull cord on the chassis. I believe most are electric start only?
