  1. Mickey, Any modern day glider design is going to be leaps and bounds better than your current flying mattress I own a k2 and have flown the gin airflex before (demo from SuperFLY USA). I would look into the Ozone speedster as another option. I bought one not long ago and am very impressed by it. Its similar to the gin airflex but a bit faster. Haven't flown a fusion before. The k2 is an awesome glider for nearly any pilot experience level. Its hard to beat as the best all around glider in my opinion. PS I am a dealer for ozone, u-turn, sky and a few others... Not trying to convince you on any specific brand or model but like I said earlier- anything you buy that is newer than your decade old glider design is going to be sweet.
  2. Little update- Still only getting about 31 mph out of the speedster with trims set to fast. I am a bit dissapointed its not quicker but still enjoy its faster speed than other glider I have flown so far. I was hoping to get closer to 35mph with just trimmers... I set up speed bar but its not going all the way out at the moment so I will try and report again tomorrow after I readjust. I was seeing about 36mph avg from the gps today wit speed bar about 2 inches short of being all the way fast.
  3. Pretty harsh there gentleman. Thank you Shawn for your positive comments. Its my glider, I bought it to test out and see what all the hype was around it. Its being compared to the k2 because I have been flying the k2 for 2 years now and its my every day glider. The ozone speedster is proving to be a very cool wing, I'm liking it a lot. What I really like is that I will be able to use speedbar at any point in the trim range and can still use brakes at any point in the speed range as well. I hope to fly the speedster a bit more in the next wieek pending weather of course and will report back with more info - speedbar, power usage and anything else anyone would like to know. Jeff
  4. Check out the Extremeppg.com review on the ozone speedster 24. http://extremeppg.com/2011/07/21/ozone- ... er-review/
  5. I've been testing out a Nova Ibex 15. Its a nimble and stable little wing. Pretty quick too Going to try and get some video today. Jeff
  6. Someone here has got to have flown both the nucleon and the speedster! I'd really like to hear how the two compare.
  7. I'm close to just buying a speedster based on Flyingfergus's review alone but I'd really like to hear from a few others that have flown the speedster. I'm assuming you - Paul had some tail wind advantages for both your outbound and return flights otherwise that glider is wicked fast. I'm trying to find a glider that will do mid 30s (mph) in fast trim but don't really know if that exists or not. Its gotta be able to foot launch in 0 wind so being in or slightly above the weight range is a must. I am 110kg all up and looking very closely at the speedster 24. If anyone else has a review I'd love to hear it or a reason why another glider might be a better choice! Jeff
  8. http://extremeppg.com/2011/04/20/dudek- ... iew-video/ Check out the video in that post. The pilot had a trimmer system setup on the A's instead of speedbar. That could be something you may want to look into. Most pilots don't fly with speedbar all the time and if your wanting a reflex wing for its stability than your still going to get that with just trimmers set to fast. Jeff
  9. Finally, some news! http://flyozone.com/paramotor/en/news/headlines/18072
  10. Heres the review I made on this glider on the ppgwings yahoo group - Finally got a chance to test out the Airflex 26 today. Winds were 5-10 and direction variable, made for a more interesting time launching. The glider came up no problem though, noticed it hung back a little bit but wasn't a big deal. The biggest problem I had was my camera getting caught on the a's when I turned to launch, need to fix the helicopter helmet/cam setup I just got so its a lower profile. I had the glider in take off position through launch and once up to 250 feet I brought the trims out to neutral. I like the way the wing behaves on neutral, it feels pretty sporty. The roll rate was good on this wing in neutral setting and noticed it didn't seem to have the engine revving much at all. Brake pressure felt pretty light in the neutral setting but gave me great feedback all the way through the pull. I had this glider trims wide open in the fast setting and really didnt notice it requiring much more power. I was pretty impressed with that. I had a hard time getting a good speed reading from my gps since it was gusting aloft constantly. What is this wing supposed to cruise at with trims set to full fast? Since i'm only 155 pounds, I could have probably flown the 24 and been even more impressed with its performance. This being the first reflex wing i've had the chance to fly, It took a bit to get used to the long trimmer range as well as the wing tip steering on full fast trim. I liked it though, it turned very well with the tip steering. Kind of strange feeling though flying through bumps and letting the wing do the work, not quite sure how I feel about that yet. I do see it being a great thing when your on a long xc flight. If I had one of my buddies powered parachutes up in the air I would have been able to do a better speed comparison, they do about 32 mph. I want to say that I was averaging about 26kts based on my gps readings with the trimmers set to full fast but I can't give you guys a dead accurate number. 26kts is just shy of 30mph. Just for kicks I reached up and pulled on one of the A's to see how different it was than a standard glider, needless to say, it didnt budge, Cool! When it was time to land I had a sweet slider landing (on my feet) with trimmers set to neutral, it was great! Love the flare authority on this glider. I wish I was able to get more flight time on this wing but the weather here has been terrible since Chris sent me the glider almost a month ago. The biggest dislike I have on this glider is the brake keepers, not a fan of the gin design, I much prefer the magnet woven into the fabric. Besides that small annoyance, I really liked this glider. Thanks again Chris / Superfly for letting me demo the Gin Airflex! Let me know if you guys have any questions about it that I failed to cover in my review. Heres the video - [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Make sure you watch in 720p. Jeff
  11. I fly through my wake all the time, never had a collapse. I'm glad you are alright! I cant even imagine how scary that must have been. Jeff
  12. What is the speed like trims out on the gin airflex? I've got a demo coming to me sometime in the next month. Anxious to fly it. There isn't much info on this wing. Jeff
