  1. Miniplane with deeper 19/73 gearing, and 130cm prop gives a LOT more umpf than 50 kg - which, coupled with its lightweight is why may comp pilots use it. (only slightly biased - but gets this 95kg lump up in 2 strides )
  2. Damn fine update ! Kudos @SW !
  3. I have a Similar delema Dave .... I figure a saving of almost 10Kg of Paramotor weight is 10Kg less for the legs to handle (and 10Kg less overall weight !) .. my power to weight ratio is not what it used to be I came to the conclusion that http://www.airconception.com/paramoteurs/ultra-130.html is the best bet I emailed the makers in france and got Positive replies: (see another thread): viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5772 bottom line: 64 Kg of thrust is obtain with 130 cm propeller. (between 60 and 62 Kg of REAL Thrust with 125 cm propeller). Total weight 20.9 kg (ready to fly harness included). Total weight 20 kg with optional titanium exhaust (ready to fly harness included) Max pilot weight 130 Kg Titanium ULTRA 130 is 4800 euros, with carbon propeller and two batteries for ULTRA 130. titanium exhaust+400 euros. (to save 0.9Kg) Ship to UK for almost 100 euros Anyone else tempted ? .. group research ? Group buy ? Anyone else know more info / +ve or -ve
  4. Yes - if you want to be up for hours, and do XC: like long range cars nothing beats the energy concentration and low costs, of petrol. But, if like me, a 25min 'power on' is ok (and especially if lighter and a bit quieter) , then electrics are a fascinating option which can only get better.
  5. This paramotor still looks like it hits the weight/thrust sweet spot .. Makes the 30Kg backnankelsnappers look a tad portly here is what they emailed me: Thanks for your interrest in our paramotor. It's right that we worked hard to design and produce this paramotor. did you saw this small video ? You can see exact weight of our ULTRA 130 paramotor with titanium exhaust on this video. The frames we produce are very strong too. The circle is made with 16 mm titanium and connected with 3K carbon pipes. Price for Titanium ULTRA 130 or MOSTER 185 is 4800 euros, with carbon propeller and two batteries for ULTRA 130. Extra cost for titanium exhaust is 400 euros. We can ship to UK for almost 100 euros including insurance and express timing. We tested our ULTRA 130 engine during 3 years, to offer high reliability. We just started to sell it from middle 2010 year cause we are now 100% statisfied with it. Full paramotor (frame + engine is 100% full warrantee by ourself). Our main market is USA and France. and in reply to further q's: ... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hello Mark, We are sorry, we still didn't found time to write english manual for our products. About our paramotor, no special maintenance is needed, just need to reload inside of the silencer after 100 hours... Grease is inside the reduction gear, no need to change oil. Maintenance is very easy, you can of course do it yourself, but if a problem appear, we can do it too, it is very easy to remove the engine from the frame, and you can send the engine to us. Express shipping including insurance cost 170 euros to UK. It is very cheap to send spareparts to UK. For exemple, shipping for one propeller cost 25 euros including insurance an tracking number. All engine and frame is warrantee, and free of charge first year of use. 64 Kg of thrust is obtain with 130 cm propeller. We usually have between 60 and 62 Kg of REAL Thrust with our usual 125 cm propeller. Eric Dufour is our official agent in USA, he can say you about the power of this engine. You can contact him here : http://www.paratour.com/ Here is review of american testing of our paramotor. http://www.footflyer.com/Equipment/Para ... tra130.htm Best regards, This is all very tempting .. even the price is OK .. I only wish they had more UK presence - I'm not sure I want to be a guinea-pig. Anyone else tempted ? cheers mark
  6. Another (OK may need to be used in multiples).. http://www.alebproducts.com/proddetail. ... d=brush008 Anybody have any news about what's going on at parajet and their electric paramotor ? [Heard they have it upto 25Min at a weight of 19Kg .. which is VERY interesting]
  7. Sounds like an excellent setup, Fanman. I'll probably do the same. Do you use swing arms pivoted on the frame ? cheers Mark
  8. Hey Alan - FANTASTIC pix !! thanks SO much for taking the time to post them. I see you dont have any ‘Roman scales’ ie attachment swing arms pivoted on the frame. What difference does this make ? Once again THANKS Mark
  9. Ah thanks Alan I would love to see a side view and any other pix you have. Likewise - anyone else mixed 'n matched harness and frame ? cheers mark
  10. I'd particularly like to use low hangpoints to do both PG and PPG (i've got a dudek nemo moto Wing - specifically for both) Fanman - thanks for info about using Aerothrust harness from David Lankish. [http] I've got an apco 'first' harness 48132 http://www.apcoaviation.com/products.as ... duct=first as below https://picasaweb.google.com/MAS.DPL/Dr ... 4197680610 But how does the Aerothrust or this harness fit the frame and frame hang point bars. I saw the threads : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4993&start=0&hilit=Aerothrust+harness and like Alan K, I'd love to see a pic of this setup.
  11. This post was tad too wordy (OK ... a brain fart ) thanks to Flat-top Dave for the PM's. I found a low hours Fresh Breeze Simmonini for sale, 2 miles away for £2K- BUT with high attachment points. Fresh Breeze want £950 to convert to low (CB or sportix) ( ...ouch !!) So anyone have a secondhand low hangpoint cage etc. to take a 122-125cm prop ? Cheers mark
  12. I'm after a second-hand / spare low hang point frame that will take a 122/125cm prop. Anyone have such a beast ? Cheers, mark
  13. Guys - a guy local to me has offered a low hours FB Simonini 122 for £2K (or £2.5 with a load of extras). Light 23Kg (weighed), loads of power, smooth and Quiet. BUT its the High J-Bar hangpoint with separate harness and motor jetison option. Option 1 convert to FB Low/mid hangpoints ... Using FB parts it can be converted to 'comfort' hang points but costs: as this need both Engine Frame at around £350 + Cage at around £600 ... so not so economic at +£1000 or Option 2 convert to low/mid hang points on a DIY basis ? possibly using another harness and attaching to the frame - but that wont have any bars - floating or otherwise. Anyone know of any spare/suitable frames ? or Option 3 re-mount motor on another, possibly s/h frame with low/mid hangpoints ? A simonini + parajet macro frame might be fun .. but probably wipes out any weight advantage or Option 4 Scrub this deal - get the guy to post on classified here or ebay for someone who like J-bars - Then dig deeper for other light 60+kg trust favourite - eg air-conception Utra130 for 4800 euros, new with carbon propeller and two batteries http://www.airconception.com/paramoteurs/ultra-130.html (64Kg thrust 21Kg all in) ... 9 kg less for my long pins to launch (as well as their usual 90Kg payload ) mark
  14. Thanks for the feedback guys, Looks like I might be a bit too heavy for this intriguing little machine - at least in calm conditions. Maybe I should go on a diet and get down to 85Kg ! At the other end of the scale i'd hate to get a heavy machine with low thrust ! best mark (in the market for a good s/h machine for my 90Kg of mince pies)
  15. Hi Guys Anyone have any information (positive or negative) on Rad Paramotors ? I cant find any impartial reviews.. in fact few reviews at all ! I'm 90Kg raw, and like the idea of a light ie 18Kg paramotor (about 10Kg lighter than most). The Javlin seems to put out 56Kg of thrust, with its bigger 1.3m prop .. which is a bit low, but offset by that weight saving. The motors as used on racing karts seem well designed .. I like the monoblock construction and clutch. There are plenty of machines to choose from in the 24 to 30 Kg weight range - but few (if any) much lighter, that I can find such as this. I wont be putting many hours on it or doing XC. Thanks mark
  16. Nice 1 Simon Although new on here - really missed this site - its amazing how often google searches about almost anything para* link here. Good for winter research - while hoping for a break in the weather for next lesson. best Mark
  17. PS anyone from the Windsor Area ? : 01753 / 01628 / 01344 Do say hi Mark
  18. Windsor Great park - in a marked out space on opposite side of the path [prince consort drive] to the model flying area. BUT do not abuse/use other areas or use could be suspended. The model Flyers have to pay £50/year. on google: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&hq=&h ... 6&t=h&z=16 Thanks for PM's .. I'm looking £500 to £1500 ideally with accessories/training harness or might as well by a new revo2 (is that so tight ? . Wish I knew more 'word on the street' what are the best alternative wings (to dudek & paramania or...... standby for some calls Simon/Colin .
  19. Hi Guys, Just started course with Simon, and realising how true the advice to get a wing is ! (especially as I have a perfect ground handling space, with clean air, designated for power kite use, within walking distance !). So if anyone is upgrading or selling up and would like to sell me a wing for paramotoring, (with option to paraglide at some stage), plus any of the other kit i'll need, please PM. I'm 92Kg so in the middle of the Revo 28 size - but would consider any suitable, crispy, stable, easy launch beginner wing. Also any other kit such as , Ground handling Harness, reserve, etc. etc. I'm Also watching ebay, and counting pennies for a new revo2 (but that's quite a commitment, and still more kit needed). cheers, Mark 01753 772990
