  1. Mike was one of the gentlemen of our sport, he enjoyed his life to the max and of course Jackie was often there by his side! He was a good friend and I shall miss him. Heartfelt condolences to Jackie and family!
  2. Supposing you're visiting the neighbour's wife? Cheers
  3. A velcro strap can form a rudimentary but effective cruise control. Ensure that whatever you use can be quickly 'deactivated' in an urgency situation though. Cheers Mark
  4. My reserve is mounted by default to one side in such a way as to try to counter the torque that the motor produces. The down side is that whilst on the ground there is a constant dragging of the right side of the harness and can be a bit of a nuisance. I've also had a line under it at one time so extra pre-flight check needed. Cheers Mark

  6. No wonder all this excess oil is trying to escape and the decomp is forever bunged up! Must be costing you a fortune in synthetic. Running too much oil in the mix (a bit extra for mum) is not necessarily a good idea, a concept that PAP don't seem to get. Just spotted this post and I have a very similar problem on my Rad Arrow. I also run at 33/1 as per the recommendations. It's stated in the manual and a sticker on the machine itself. What would be the repercussions of running at 40/1 or should I stick with the mans. recs.? I'll take the decompression valve out and see if I can get it to seal properly! Cheers Mark
  7. Due to circumstances we are looking for a fourth (and even a fifth?) candidate for the first part of the RT course (theory) and exam for this Thursday and Friday evening 22nd and 23rd. The course will run from 1800 to 2100 both days and is to be held at Enstone airfield... We have had to postpone the course once already so this course WILL run with our current compliment but we really need to have one or 2 more ppl on board. The cost is £100 cash to be paid on the first evening and is much cheaper than the normal and subsequent prices and this includes the £30 cost for the exam itself. If you are interested then please email me at...mark at cageuk dot co dot uk (obviously formatting this correctly). I check email on my phone through the day but can't easily access the forum! Cheers Mark
  8. Fleabay is the other place to buy it try http://tinyurl.com/yleoxcx as an example. I not sure on the spray as I've not used it, I used the liquid one instead. I got through about 1 1/2 pots for 30+ characters which were about 10" high so it wasn't too bad really. Good luck! Cheers Mark
  9. Although I know a couple of guys around your weight fly a Rad I would strongly suggest looking at something with a little more power for your weight as I'm pretty sure you will regret it otherwise! Cheers Mark
  10. That's ok there's no space restriction on the forum Gordon:) Yes I have indeed removed a very long web addy from the underside of my Revo 26! It involved rolls of kitchen paper towel and copious amounts of sticky stuff remover (referred to as SSR here on)! You will also need a large flat water impervious board ( I used a food tray) and a bowl of water, plus a wet rag and dry towel. Also required...lots of patience. I had spoken previously to Aerofix who suggested SSR as a possible and they were 'fairly confident' that it wouldn't effect the fabric of the wing. My method was this... lay wing with graphic side up. Slide your board between the upper and lower skin of the glider. This will give you a solid base to work from and protect the other skin from all the mucking about. Start in one corner of the graphic and gently and evenly pull it away from the fabric...This will be very tough to do and the utmost importance should be placed on not stressing the wing fabric. Try to pull as evenly as possible and I used the heel of my hand as a platform to pull from. If the graphic covers a large area it is probably best to do this in sections. Pull the edge of the graphic away and when you have lifted about 50mm along the edge then cut the edge of the graphic with scissors. This should then continue to tear as you pull the graphic away so you can work on the 'strips' separately. You could try experimenting by pre-soaking the graphic in SSR but I found it made little or no difference. Once the area of graphic is exposed there will be a residue of adhesive left...This is the pain in the A^$e. Get a sheet of paper towel and squirt with SSR. Rub this into the adhesive working small areas at a time. Use the board again as a working base. After the first application use a fresh, dry paper towel to mop up the goo that results. Repeat the process once again with a fresh soaked paper towel then a dry one. You may even need to repeat this for a third/fourth time! Eventually the fabric will lose the 'tacky' feel. When you are happy that you have removed all the adhesive then bathe the area in warm water and immediately dry it with the towel and do the tacky test. When clean start the whole process with the next 'strip'. You could remove the entire graphic first then proceed with the adhesive removal but I found it far easier to keep track of progress working on a small area to completion then starting again on the next section. That is it, in a nutshell. Perseverance will pay and my wing looks and feels as good as new. Good luck Gordon and I do not envy you! Cheers Mark Once you have pulled the section
  11. I would think that because the remarkable 73 will skew the results it would be more accurate to remove that and the youngest age and then calculate the average from there! The most common age is quite obvious though! So long...and thanks for all the fish!
  12. Waaah! I want my gold star! 41 cheers Simon:) Mark
  13. Sounds like a great flight Eddie well done. Did you have a fuel stop after your outward leg or was it all one trip? Sorry I couldn't manage saturday and am now in Bournemouth for the week! I would have really liked to get my motor back together and established working prior to the fly-in but it was not to be! LOL for Simon stopping off for tea:) Cheers Mark
  14. I use one of those car 'blind spot' mirrors with a hole drilled attached to a short piece of bungee. Does the job nicely! Cheers Mark
  15. Hats off to you Togsie for no pre-flight nerves. I get them a-plenty before launch particularly in light wind/nil wind conditions. I'm sure if I could exorcise my nerves I would handle my forward launches much more efficiently. Something for me to work on but I'm glad to see that you seem to have got over that hurdle. Cheers Mark
