Ellie Whitmarsh said: Helloooooo again. You guys have travelled way far these last couple of days, you couldn't hear it but I just applauded : )I just asked the magic 8 ball if you'll be flying tomorrow and it said "Most Likely" and then I asked if you'll be going far and it said "As I see it yes". So it looks like fate (the magic 8 ball) is in your favour today guys. Stay safe. Dad:-I went to gig on the green today and it rained the whole time, but I brought a new umbrella so I didn't mind because I looked uber cool. I had a dream last night that I looked out of the window and the field out the back was filled with cars and you were signing a load of books in our garden. Maybe it means that you will become FAMOUS. I painted my nails three different colours and I decided that if I do that it will bring you good luck. And I'm wearing a cornwall air ambulance band thing which will also bring you good luck. Thinking of you ALL THE TIME. I love you. xXx

francis said: Many thanks to Simon Bently for helping me refuel in Crewkerne on Saturday. I had had to land near Ivybridge and had relaunched on the spare machine two hours behind the main party. I overflew the Axminster refueling point since I had several litres left after using the thermal lift to conserve fuel. I flew on to Crewkerne and landed near a petrol station. Simon happened to be walking in the field and also happened to be a paraglider pilot and instructor who had worked with Mike Campbell-Jone (our wing designer) in wales ten years ago! What are the chances of that?
I took off again from the same field and landed at Mere with an hour to spare before departure for Lambourne. I took over a new engine and flew this to Lambourne that night.
Thanks to Sally-Ann and Bill for a splendid reception and rest stop. We all flew on from Lambourne yesterday. Unfortunately I was grounded again soon into that flight and have now decided to withdraw from personal participation in the flying ops. This will ensure they still have an engine in reserve. So it is now four pilots and the camera pilot, Dan, about half way to JoG and going strong. I wish them every success.
Access to internet to write the plogs is problematic so his must suffice for my final pilot's log entry.
I have finally understood the Revolution or at least I should say I can now get off the ground with confidence. I am also beginning to see the qualities of this design and only wish I could have had longer to play with its features to make a fuller assessment. I had been looking forward to the derby and york moors for some blue and white thrills but alas, not to be.

I think that's a pretty cool code name.) Dad: we thought mine and Roz's wit and humour (and Roz says to add charm)will give you a boost and remind you of my amazing Ellie-ness while you are away. Have a bit of me time. Because you're worth it. We don't like water you gotta have a bottle of Oasis. < those are currently some of the adverts you are sadly missing out on. I thought I wrote a pretty big message last time but Francis beat me so I think I should beat Francis. =D. I would just like to say that I finished a really good book yesterday and I think I will type it for you (that might beat Francis)...JOKES I do actually have a life so I'd better get off and watch some paint dry. Hope you miss me Dad. You should. I am a bundle of laughs. Sorry it wasn't so serious this time. But on a serious note, I think you're all doing very well and I hope you are being careful. Roz wants you to reply dad so ASAP please. (Roz says "spit spot, we haven't got all day babycakes". Cheeky.) I'll ask the magic 8 ball some questions for you: 1) Will you have finished this by the end of next year? Signs point to Yes. 2)Should you go flying in your pjamas? Yes Definatly (Although it might get a little bit nippy) 3) Do Ellie and Roz love you? Reply Hazy, Try again. (UNLUCKYYYYYY!) Jokes. We do very much so (Roz says totally in the Friend to Friends Dad way, not any other way though I don't beleive her). We are watering the plants and shelling the peas just fine right now so no need to worry about us. LOVE YOU LOTS

It is a real achievement, never done before with paramotors. The boys have been cold, wet, hungry and exhausted. There have been bitter dissapointments and tremendous elation. Col, Ken, Mike and Mark on ground crew are working tremendously hard doing everything humanly possible to keep the show in the air. Everyone deserves admiration for their part in this epic adventure. WELL DONE TO YOU ALL. Support is paramount to these boys and I know we are all proud of them.

francis said: The success of this mission is not measured in speed or distance or even endurance. It is measured in the amount of money raised and the awareness raised for the FORCES CHILDREN'S TRUST and the regional air ambulances.
It has already succeeded even if no flights were made because it has already raised tens of thousands in corporate sponsorships and several hundreds in private donations.
The children of servicemen and women who are injured or killed in action are taken care of by this charity. Surely this is a role for taxpayers money? If the politicians dont foot the bill after sending our boys and girls into action someone has to.
That someone in this case is Simon Westmore. His vision and determination have put this extraordinary event together and his team are keeping it going for the duration.
Every stop they make further up the country is another opportunity to get onto the local radio and media and get the message out.
Every region along the way that they can get to will see a benefit to their local region's air ambulance service. They will keep going north at every opportunity and they will keep on raising more money and awareness.
THAT IS SUCCESS!
Mike & debbie westmore said: Thank you for that Francis, that sums it up very well. that was very kind of you.

Since the 29th July (11 days)I have flown 15 flights over 7 flying days with GPS recording 742.38 miles over approx 30 hours flying. I would like Elephant in the room to research UK clubs and measure all pilots flying collectively since 29th July and compare against the above (one tip to tip pilots log).
What we have achieved during very poor weather is amazing. Highlights the level of determination of the whole team.
Elephant in the room; go back to your comfy arm chair and watch the Olympics; if you havn't the balls to display your name don't write on this site.
I would like to thank all the support team, those with us, and those offering advice and assistance from all over the country. Without your help we would not be able to achieve this.

Whitters tip to tip pilot said: Elephant in the room or should I say Martin Hewlett. Very sad person. You should study the alleged flight legs/plan of A Phillips in 2000 and consider if they were actually achievable, ask for evidence of his flight!!!!!!!.
Getting one pilot tip to tip (with military support) is very different than getting a group of pilots avoiding all airspace from tip to tip. But I wouldn't expect you to understand that. I won't be answering any more of your anonymous posts.
Although we have yet to achieve this (200 miles to go) I believe we will be the first to do lands end to John O'groats on paramotors.

Timothy said: Dear Old Dumbo,
The quickest way to get a paramotor to JoG is to land at Penzance and get the train. (cheaper too). In the days since the 29th July I have been with a group of people having an adventure. In that short time I have seen incredible bravey and stupidity, experienced massive joy and deep frustration, have taught some and learned lots from some very special individuals. I have seen a friend plummet to earth and resume flying the next day. I have Laughed with good friends and shed bitter tears. Along the way I have met some warm, generous and surprising people; the landlord at the Vic', Simon Bentley at Crewkerne, Victor at Clearbrooke, Mr Longboat ....every one of them and many more have given me hope that this world is not so dark as it seems sometimes. I have seen all this and more, in short, in the last few days I have LIVED. I have flown every leg to Lambourn and, when my motor is restored, will resume my adventure and reach JOG. When I do, why not join me? cos I reckon I'll 'a been done seen 'bout evertheng, when I sees a elephant fly...oh yeah when I sees a elephant fly.

Whitters said You should study the alleged flight legs/plan of A Phillips in 2000 and consider if they were actually achievable, ask for evidence of his flight!!!!!!!.
I agree with your comments Whitters the 2000 flight was never achieved it was watched very closely you only have to look back at the weather records to see it didn't take place all the so called down links failed. pilots who wanted to go and join could not find the route. or where the pilot was at any time plus the fact that the Vortex was always plagued with problems and high consumption.
Only shortly after that attempt a US pilot was supposed to have flown across the USA this again was to promote the Vortex and the Reflex wings. No proof
There was also an alleged flight across Australia again never happened no proof.?? Also Everest no proof and the UK film edited from the original USA version to claim they never flew over it.
It took the late Kevin Bates 3 weeks to get to Whitby and he gave up
You guys are going to do the 1ST proven Lands End To John O'Groats flight keep going and show the world it could be done.
Good Luck From Paramotors UK

Can I stop biting my nails now please?
Carvingair said: BRAVISSIMO to all involved, we are extremely pleased to see you have accomplished the intended task and are all well. I have learned already and hope to gain more insight as you unveil the story.I was particularly touched by the dialog from family members and Witters I take back HALF the bad things I ever said about you (that's a joke son so turf the contract). To Francis and Mildred, I can resign from comment should it make any difference with your return to comment (I miss you). Once again THANKS for the drive you have given us here in Ka Na Da

Simon W (Tip to Tip Pilot) said: All,
Thanks so very much for all of your kind words, they have helped to push us on up the country more than you will know.
I did fall 30 miles short of JOG due to a mechanical failer (engine not melted but not working)
We had to press on as a team and get Whiters and Dan the Camera man over the line before the 25 mph winds kicked in.
The entire team feel as though this has been a sucess and we are all very proud to be a part of the Tip to Tip 2008 team.
The expereance has been an amazing one with much of the action caught on the DVD, big collapses in rotor, forced landings, 4800ft over the morning clouds...
The DVD will be awesome, Thanks to our professional film crew Lynwen, Dave and Dan, you have recorded one of those life changing moments for us all.
I too can not wait until the DVD is out, its full of action.
(best guess for DVD being out is end of October) The editing is the hard bit I am told. and they have over 60 hours of footage to edit!! There will be a trailer on the PMC forum fairly soon.
Again thanks to all of you very very much
SW :D

Whitters.tip to tip pilot said: Dear friends.
Thank you for all your kind thoughts and comments.
Firstly I mustt appologise to Martin Hewlett, Elephant in the room wasn't him. Sorry mate.
I'm viewing this forum in my lovely warm bed on my Ipaq PDF for the first time after 15 days of hard flying in conditions that never increased over 1000mb the whole trip. If it wasn't low cloud and rain it was strong winds.
Although I am proud to say that 2 pilots crossed the finish line out of 7 pilots I would like to say that it would not have been possible without the help of all team of ground support crew and pilots who all sacrificed time effort and their own flying to allow Dan and I to cross the line.
The team is a mix from all the forums / groups which came together to make this thing happen. Thank you all and will definitely be seeing you all again soon.
It would be nice if this very British achievement could go some way to bringing paramotor groups together and communicate in a more possitive way for the common good of all.
When I have pulled all my notes together I will bore you with the story.
As for equipment; I flew the same machine on the same prop the whole way (approaching 900 gps miles approx 40 ito 50 hours) without problems. The wing flew me through the worst conditions I have ever (will ever) fly in and kept me alive despite my own poor descisions. Very impressed with the wing indeed. Thanks to Giles (Parajet, Macro) and MCJ (Paramania, Revolution.)
Will write more another time, the good and the bad. You must see the DVD; You have to see the whole story to believe it. Roller coaster ride of ups and downs.
Love to you all.
Be safe.
Whitters X.

I never thought I would be part of a team that would make history I think that I have had that privalige on this adventure.
Guy's it was an honour I look forward to flying with you, instead of chasing you all over the country, soon.
