  1. cheers SW - yup I reckon that's the way - also keeps me out of the way having to help the Mrs with shovelling manure in the garden!!!
  2. Hi all My A3 was damaged in transit and the yellow engine-side (back) glassfibre body was cracked (all else ok) - does anybody have/know where to get this part only, or should I attempt a repair? - I have quite a lot of experience using FG in boat repairs All comments welcome cheers
  3. Hi All Following 'Blackhawk' PPG on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Blackhawk-Paramotor-wEdel-Power-Atlas-Wing-NR-/150832151519?pt=UK_SportingGoods_OtherSports&hash=item231e4bfbdf Smells like a scam!!!!!!!!!!!! - I was done over once, so my nose has become attuned to scams - avoid at all costs!!!!!!! Notice the ad says to email him directly (not through Ebay), also wants money by bank transfer (alarm bells) - claims he's got an ebay rating of 2000+ but is actually in the low 100's................................... If it seems too good to be true, it usually is Happy flying (when this diabolical weather clears up!!) cheers Shenzi3
  4. A few tips to spot a scam (I learnt the hard way) - probably teaching you guys to suck eggs but they are: BEWARE OF: MOBILE NUMBERS BEGINNING WITH +44 070 XXXX - these are 'follow me' numbers and look like UK mobiles but matey could be in Kazakhstan for all you know IF THE PRICE SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE - IT ALMOST CERTAINLY IS SELLER UNWILLING TO TALK ON PHONE SELLER UNWILLING TO LET YOU VIEW THE ITEM TECHNICAL SPECS THAT LOOK COPIED & PASTED USE OF INAPPROPRIATE UNITS - IE. IMPERIAL INSTEAD OF SI (UNLESS FROM USA) SELLER ONLY WANTS PAYMENT VIA BANK TRANSFER ANY PAYMENT INVOLVING WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM, ELECTRONIC TRANSFERS SELLER SUGGESTS USING AN ESCROW SERVICE ......and believe it or not, if you are selling equipment......agreement from buyer to take goods unseen, paying using PAYPAL - see link below www.scamwarners.com/forum Be careful and happy flying cheers shenzi3
  5. Yup - same equipment I noticed the tacho - not a tinytach - so it immediately raised my suspicions glad he's been shut down!!!!
  6. Yup smells big time - let's see what comes back from my query about viewing - excuses = SCAM - will then try save some poor bugger a lot of money by reporting / sending query that says scam for all to view on ebay cheers
  7. Hi there is a possible ppg scam on ebay - matey is selling a package with an unfeasibly low starting price, also 0 rating - all info is cut and pasted and is in imperial measurements - ie. lbs, qts etc _ seems very similar to a scam I as taken on - also he only accepts a bank transfer (ALARM BELLS) - have asked a question to see if I can view.......let's see if he comes up with an excuse.......here's the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paratoys-Foot ... 5b685ede0# happy flying
  8. morgy thanks for the reply..... Am based in Gozzers only because I have been redeveloping St. mary's hospital in Pompey - otherwise I am buying a place near Horsham..... I see Steve H responded on this post (hi it's marek) - family commitments have meant that my training has taken a somewhat round about route (though this is due to end in Nov) - so have done an EP (to get my groundhandling sorted) and shall be looking to seriously start training with Steve H (if he'll have me ) in the next couple of months....... Basically, I'll have no problem helping out - driving etc, if you guys would be able to answer questions etc...........I have a high hang-point RAD120 machine with a swing arcus wing (yup - not like you guys - but I had to start somewhere LOL).........
  9. Nice!!!! looked like a fab morning to do it - was watching you from Gosport side (modern marina with a tall block in grey and red brick) - you went up the estuary and then turned towards Havant/Chichister - about 2500ft up I would guess where do you guys fly from? - just starting out and would like to hook up and ask questions, if that's ok cheers
  10. hi was wondering who was flying over portsmouth this morning - blue, white and orange wing (Sky wing)...... be good to find out and possibly meet up cheers
  11. Hi all Just a friendly warning (I lost money ) that there are PPG's listed on London.craiglist which are all scams!!!!!! Basically, very knowledgeable person selling them, knows his technical stuff, but the goods never materialise, all communication ends etc after payment. Beware of anything coming out of the following address: 150 Brechin Road, Arbroath, Scotland DD11 4AP ......also as a further point, beware of anybody who then communicates with you via text using the following prefix +44 070............... Happy flying Shenzi3

  14. Hi all thanks for the valuable posts and the opinions served up...... My free-flying in Rio would only be for a short time every year, therefore training there, aside from the language issue would, in my mind be a non starter, particularly if one takes into account insurance issues - I suppose it's like trying to get decent car insurance premiums based on a foreign licence. I thought it would better to train here in 'trying' conditions which would stand me in good stead in more (possibly) benign conditions. That said, I could then build up valuable air time when there (and freight out my current kit as a holiday backup once I purchase newer equipment with more experience ) As for the kit that I acquired - I have a RADNE120 motor, stainless steel cage, wood prop, wood valley harness, high hang point setup (used for no more than 15hrs), an APCO (L) reserve and 2 wings - a large swing arcus 4 (105-130kg) and a medium Ozone Atom ( 80-100kg - propose to use this for free flying), radio etc - all in excellent nick. I have been practicing ground handling and am getting quite proficient at fwd/reverse launches....but as always practice makes perfect therefore I reckon I'll start with the EP/CP training route and then look to do power training with one of you fine people that frequent this site thanks all once again for your info - can anybody recommend insurance companies? cheers
